Patterns that add up.
Purlgrid makes knitting and crochet patterns, and the tools behind them. It is built around one frustration every knitter knows: a pattern whose numbers don't work, found out halfway through.
What we make
Free Fair Isle and C2C patterns (3 so far, each in A4 and US Letter), free tools for charting names and letters, and Purlgrid Studio, where you design your own Christmas stocking or sweater and get the pattern for it.
How we make it
We draw every chart ourselves. Our own pattern engine then writes the instructions from the chart and checks them: cast-ons that divide into every repeat, two colours a round, floats marked or refused, decreases that land exactly, yarn counted from the stitches. A PDF is only made when every check passes. Read exactly what it checks.
What it costs
Everything is free while Purlgrid grows. There is no account, we don't ask for your email, and there are no ads.
Who we are
Purlgrid is made by Hugo Software Ltd, a small software studio. Our motifs (reindeer, hearts, snowflakes, Christmas trees) are drawn from scratch; we don't copy other designers' charts.
